Was rather grossed out by the state of the shower house farthest north... smell of mold smacked me so hard in the face holes... Terrible health hazard. The shower there, does not even get hot. Not even warm. The cove campground shower house, has a sign posted about conscientious use of water... how ironic I spent fifteen minutes in there hitting buttons, wasting gallons, for no warm water to ever show up... almost like there isn't a propane tank to heat it.... Fascinating ๐ฉ. I got a lukewarm shower, finally, at the middle shower house.... It's hard to find appreciation for these parks even being available, when the experience trying to stay clean, disgusts a person with such ill cared for facilities. Other states provide much nicer state parks.
Good for fishing in general. Nice little park but with too many bugs. Public restrooms were closed on a Tuesday morning which is odd.
I have a personal love for this place but it's definitely in need of attention from lots of agencies. From a state park perspective it's reasonable the staff do above and beyond with what they are given to work with. The location makes or breaks it depending on your needs and wants. If you want a true isolated experience you can definitely do that. But if your looking for amenities close by it's definitely limited. Where things are truly lacking is from funding and seasonal fluctuations. I've never had a bad time here and this place is close to my heart this is why I'm saddened by the disrepair of some areas. However where the park shines is the vast array of things to do from all walks of life. This time out was nice because it was my 2 younger kids first camping trip with fishing and recreational water sports at Conchas. Nothing but good times. The only part was going home.
This park is really remote, you'll probably lose service on your devices on the way there, but it's a really pretty place, and you can still see wild life walking through the park if you're quiet enough. The bathrooms were closed by. It was really peaceful. Watch out for deer pebbles.
Really loved our time here. The lake was beautiful, and the rv spots were spread out nice. We stayed at Bell Pointe Electric. There is a boil water advisory. They had water and electric. The water had a pressure regulator valve already attached to the water spigot. The site was clean and had an amazing view of the lake. They are very dog friendly. When around the rv site and near roads you must keep your dog on a leash. The restrooms were clean and had 3 showers (1 was out of order). I think there were 4 toilet stalls also. I would have given 5 stars, but there was a pressure regulator valve on the water spigot used for the black tank flush on our rv. Because of this the pressure wasn't strong enough to flush out the tank and we had to do it when we got home.
