We met an absolutely beautiful, 11 month old man, rescue sheepdoodle at the ice-skating rink. It was a great time for my family.
I am always trying to find new activities for my sons who are 12 and 8 to try. We were playing miniature golf next door when I saw the Lexington Ice and Recreation Center And made the decision to go check it out inside. When I first entered, I Was greeted warmly by the manager Jeremy. I asked him if it was OK for my son and I to check out the layout of the rink and get a feel for it to see if my son might be interested in trying it out. He was so gracious when he told us yes go enjoy yourselves!. He then came and found us a few minutes later and offered me two free admission and skate rental vouchers for my son and myself. That way if he did take an interest, we could try it out risk-free and I think that that was just a lovely and completely amazing sentiment!!! It is such an amazing feeling when you see that there are still awesome people left in the world and who do incredibly kind things.!! 10 out of 10 highly recommend, and will be back very soon!!!
Awesome experience with the family. A first time for many. Was a tad pricey it seemed buy worth it in memories. Great time held by all. Was set up for all skill levels.
The skates are brutal on your ankles and my son got a blister on his toe, so make sure the skates fit good! We all had fun, you skate in 2 hour time frames, in between the 2 hours they smooth the ice out for the next group, but I also think they should smooth it out after a hour of your skate time, there were so many deep grooves that you could barely even skate, that's my only complaint, everything else was fun, they have food there and places to sit and watch in the warm area, it is super cold, I told my kids it was going to be cold, they didn't believe me!
The golfing itself was fun with a good mix of easy and hard holes. The courses are bible themed which is a nice touch. Employee working was nice and helped us decide which course to choose. We went on a weekday and it was empty until we were leaving then people started showing up (after work). The issue is the complex of courses itself. The place is REALLY run down. Only a few of the effects were working. This place must've been amazing when it first opened, but it needs a complete renovation to get it back to its former glory.
