Pirates of the Golden Galleon Golf

One of several mini golf spots right on the boardwalk and essentially beachfront, the location can’t be beat. The pirate theme is fairly typical, but well done—the course includes a couple life-size pirate ships. But the holes themselves are unspectacular—the difficulty is fairly basic, nothing interactive, basically no water features, and they’re starting to feel worn down and in need of a refresh. The theme and visuals are well done, but the playing experience is ultimately underwhelming and frankly a bit dull. All in all, it’s a decent way to spend an hour on the boardwalk, but you’re left wanting more out of your mini golf experience.

Perfect way to add to the boardwalk experience! Not too crowded or expensive and there are 2 courses to choose from. My husband and I enjoyed the creative holes. You can tell the place has been around for awhile but we felt it has been maintained well.

Golden Galleon has been a staple of Ocean City NJ miniature golf for years. It has two above par courses that earn the high risk high reward title it shares with Seaport Village down the Boardwalk. Both of the pirate course's of Galleon are colorful, with unique hole designs and fun challenges. The pirate ship out front can be climbed up on to fire cannons, which is exciting for children. There are now additionally 3 animatronics that guard Golden Galleon, 2 crocodiles, Chewy and Albert, and a parrot named chief. The banter back and forth of the animals is amusing for children and they do move a bit which is cool. The courses are each worth price of admission, with a few small water features at the start and end, and extremely well earned free games. You need skill, determination and some good fashion luck to do well here.

The BEST mini golf course I can ever imagine. Good price, great quality, and stands the test of time. The holes are unique, and offer rewarding challenges. Unlike many other courses, if you get the ball where you're suppose to, you actually get a hole in one. You cant go wrong. :update: I still love this course more than any other course in the world however, in 2019 I was with my wife, son, and brother, and 3 out of 4 of us got free games on the last hole. It was daytime, hot, not many people on the course at the time. We all celebrated one by one until my brother, the last one to get the free game celebrated and went up to the counter and the old man working the counter didn’t want to give him the free game ticket. He claimed that he didn’t get it. I quickly proclaimed that he DID and I had it on tape! The man refused and was rude. I played back the video of the ball going in the hole, and he was very disgruntled to see it. Having been proven wrong, he then claimed that we couldn’t win more than 2 free games per group, which is CLEARLY not a rule. Eventually he caved but that was a really sour experience that has tainted an otherwise perfect course.

With friendly staff and an inviting atmosphere, this mini golf venue offers an affordable and enjoyable experience for families spending their evenings in Ocean City, NJ. Not to mention, the lookout tower provides a breathtaking view. Kids can have a blast shooting pirate cannons from the top while you soak in the spectacular scenery.
