Honest review! I have always gone to wilderness at the smokies and this was almost like it but smaller and way more expensive!! Plus hidden fees. 20 a day for parking on top of room fees is crazy. Food is so overpriced we ordered papa John's delivery. No microwaves in room so if u have small kids who need to reheat food or milk u have to go down the hallway to use the public microwave. Nasty... Bunk beds very small. Good for 1 small kid. Waterpark was nice and clean, room wasnt very clean especially behind beds. Gift shop was so expensive as well. Coming in and out was a nightmare. U come in through front and go to hall with all these elevators. If ur room is way at the other end u have a lot of walking. There was steps and another parking lot but if u parked there be prepared for lots of steps. U couldn't just have a parking area and an elevator on both ends is ridiculous. I honestly think I will stick to wilderness at the smokies. Rooms are bigger and always had more fun there. Staff too were kids who didnt care. Some nice some rude. One good thing was my grandson had a great time!
Overall it was a great time! The rooms were clean & staff was very friendly. However, the kids bunk beds were uncomfortable & the toilet handle has to be held down to flush. The waterpark was a lot of fun but I think a day of it is plenty. All the other activities I would say are geared towards kids 10 & under. The gift shop & resturant prices are outrageous so we ate outside the hotel for every meal to save $. If you can go during the winter months or times when they offer big savings I'd say it's worth it.
The rooms were so spacious and clean. Wherever we went we were greeted with a smile by the staff members. There were so many food and activity options we didn't have to leave the resort at all during our 4 day stay. Just be prepared for your room not to be ready at check in as I saw many people complaining about that as we checked in. Our room wasn't ready either but they do hold your bags and ticket them so you can get your passes and begin the fun beforehand. Honestly overall I'd say it's a great place for the family to visit. Definitely plan on going back.
We stayed at Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange for a few nights. The parking lot is huge, so it’s a bit of a walk to the resort. You use a wristband to access the gated parking, but you have to stretch your arm quite far to scan it, which was a little annoying. The indoor water park was supposed to be 84 degrees, but when we went right at opening 10 a.m., the water felt cold. Pool towels are provided, which is convenient, but you’re required to return them to the towel stand before leaving instead of leaving them in your room for housekeeping which felt unnecessary. The room itself was clean and the beds were comfortable. The TV worked well, but the air/heat was inconsistent, swinging between being too cold or too warm. The bathroom only had one roll of toilet paper with very little left, and the toilet seemed to have low water pressure, which caused it to clog easily. Maintenance was quick and helpful when they brought a plunger. Occasionally, we could hear kids in neighboring rooms or the hallway, which made it a little noisy at times. We originally stayed two nights and decided to add a third. While they allowed us to stay in the same room, we still had to fully check out and check back in, which didn’t make much sense. On the positive side, staff were friendly overall, and my child loved the free wolf ears headband a fun touch. Overall, it was an okay stay with some enjoyable moments, but several small inconveniences kept it from being great.
We’ve been to this location 4 times in the last 5 months. The first 3 times were great and my family had an awesome time. We love the outside pool and all the games the employees do outside with the children during the summer. The hot tub that’s open year around is wonderful. The Halloween event they had was 3/10 but the decorations were amazing inside. There were only a few trick or treating stations and some of the employees weren’t very friendly. We recently went Nov 14 and loved the decorations inside and the huge tree when you walked in. Everything was fine until we went to our room and found blood on the back of the bathroom door. I went downstairs around 2 o’clock to inform the front desk and they told me someone would be up to clean it. We returned at 8 PM and the blood was still on the back of the door. As we walked down the stairs, there was also blood smeared going all the way down. I also informed the front desk about that and they cleaned it up in a timely manner. This location is great and only an hour away from my house so we are visiting it frequently. We will be back next week and hope things go smoother.
